I stayed like that until the waves of pleasure finally calmed down, allowing me to relax the muscles in my back. I wasn't in a rush to clean myself up. I smile as I see out of the corner of my eye as Danny comes at me with a crowbar. I turn one of my arms and fire at him, hitting him in the leg. He goes down as I fire again.

“You’ll scream for me before the night is over.” The words lit fire in my veins. I jerked hard, twisting free for just a second. My hand shot to his belt. My fingers closed around cold metal. The gun. I spun, raised it, and fired. Bang. Bang. Two shots slammed into Draven’s stomach. He staggered back, shock painting his face as blood spread across his shirt. The courtyard exploded with noise. Wolves shouted. Some screamed. Zade spun toward me, fury blazing, but I raised the gun again, my hands steady.

I had no time to focus on them—because one of the creatures was already lunging for me. Instinct roared to the surface. The fire inside me erupted. Flames shot from my hands, golden and furious, meeting the creature mid-air. The moment the fire touched its body, it let out a horrific, echoing scream. The shadows writhed and twisted, burning away into nothing. The fire worked. I didn’t stop. Another creature lunged—I turned my palm toward it, unleashing a blast of fire that consumed it whole. The air filled with the scent of scorched decay as the thing disintegrated, leaving behind only embers and ash.

His fangs found another throat, and he tore it apart with a satisfying crack. “Two on your right!” I warned him. “Got them!” Bryan barked and pounced, sending one crashing into a tree. Hardin was a whirlwind of gold and fire. Every move he made was precise, brutal. His claws glowed faintly, holy fire infused into every strike. But even he was beginning to slow. There were too many. Dozens of them. I leapt high and landed in the center of a group, releasing a burst of dark energy. The ground cracked, flames of black fire spiraling outward. Hunters screamed as the fire consumed them.

​"As of this moment, the MSE stop-work order is lifted. We have lost four hours to this cynical, childish distraction. We will work through the night to make them up. I assure everyone of our competitors, every politician, and every analyst watching: MomentDrGroup will not be stopped by a flowerpot. We will deliver this project, on time and on budget, and those responsible for this campaign of malice will be held accountable. Thank you. With a violent jerk, I broke the black hand that had risen from the pond to grip my ankle. ​"Arthur!" I roared. My voice was no longer human; it was a fusion of a thousand dragons' bellows. "What you call your empire, I will turn to dust today!" ​Cassie raised her gun and fired at me. But surprisingly, the bullets deflected off the blue insect armor on my body. In a single leap, I reached her. My nails were now harder than blue diamonds. I gripped Cassie’s throat. ​"Sophia... please..." Cassie panted. "I... I was forced..."

In a blast of bright orange fire. "Hugh!" Elizabeth’s scream echoed through the chamber, then Dave shot another round at the remaining assassin. Hugh screamed and struggled to roll out of the flames to safety as his entire body became engulfed. Finally, after a moment, he was able to worm his way onto a part of the stone surface where the fire hadn’t reached, and he continued to turn over in the dust. A few seconds later, the flames had been smothered. The skin on his face and hands peeled and blistered from the burns, and his hair had been singed down to the scalp. When he opened his eyes, he saw Shawn Richmond standing over him, holding his gun. “Now, it's quite a fire, huh?” Shawn lifted

I yelled. He was already moving. A silent inferno of white-gold fire surged from him, engulfing the creatures advancing on the city. It wasn't a wild blaze, but a contained, controlled storm of annihilation. Turning to face the threat at our backs, I followed his lead. A wave of violet fire roared from my hands, and I focused its full, devouring power on the sentinel until not even a wisp of it remained.
