The guy just places the basket on the table and leaves. 'All of them?" I question in shock. Dean just nods with a smile. I blush and take out a rose, pressing it to my nose and take a sniff; it's so beautiful. Our deserts arrive; a vanilla cheesecake with cherry syrup for Holden, poached pears and creme freche for Dean and warm chocolate brownie and ice cream for me. "So, Lizzie.. How are you feeling about the impending birth?" Dean asks over his desert. "Nervous.. Not sure how I'm going to cope but I'll do my best.

Dean says as he basically gives us all a stern look. Yeah, we got it, buddy, don't worry. "Yeah, I'd say these pieces were cut really well," Alexander says, which causes Dean's fiancée—I mean Rosalie—to smile. "Awe, that's sweet of you to say," she says, then once again goes back into the kitchen. Everyone soon sits down and begins to pick up their forks to eat their slices of pie. Unfortunately, before any of us get the chance to even take a bite of our pie, Christian quickly stands up. "Before anyone begins to dig into their desserts," he quickly states, "I think Dean and Alexander have a few things to say."

The aroma is just so wonderful, and it fills the kitchen with its wonderful scent. "Wow…" Hendrix mumbles as he examines the pie as though he were a judge in a food contest. Emory’s Winnie impression was extremely accurate and Stetson was laughing hard enough that his eyes had gone wet and Maekynzie had given up on the milkshake entirely and the booth was warm and loud and exactly what it always was when these specific people were together, and I wanted to hold it still for a minute. Just freeze it. Just this. The cherry pie turned out to be, according to Tinsley, above average. She said it the way someone says something has been confirmed rather than the way someone says something is good, and somehow that made it feel like higher praise.

We watch as Darius comes back out and continues his rounds. It's cold, and the snow has begun to fall again. I might actually enjoy it more if I wasn't so cold constantly. A while later, they stopped at our table. "Please explain what you made." Darius looks at Rowan. She stammers and looks at me. "We made coronation chicken pies. They are made with shortcrust pastry; the insides consist of finely chopped chicken, crème fraîche and a few other ingredients." I nod to Rowan. She needs to speak.
