The Loveless Contractive Marriage

"Zia," Edward began, his voice low, "there’s something you should know about Lorenzo. Something I’ve never shared with anyone before."
She tilted her head, curiosity piqued. "What is it?"
Edward looked down at the book in his hands, running his fingers over its worn cover. "This is Lorenzo’s diary. I found it years ago, after I sent him abroad to study. I didn’t mean to invade his privacy, but I was worried about him. He’d been through so much, and I needed to understand what was going on in his mind."
