The door creaked open as she pushed it, revealing a scene that stole the breath from her lungs. Inside, the dim light cast eerie shadows across the room, but what caught her attention was the unmistakable figure lying on the floor. Padma. Kyra’s heart shattered as she rushed to her side, the world around her slowing to a crawl. The metallic scent of blood was overwhelming, and the sight of Padma’s still body sent waves of anguish crashing over her. She knelt beside her, cradling her bleeding head in her lap and tears blurring her vision as she seem confused to what had happened.

Watching the road below the way she watched everything, with the particular patience of someone who had learned a long time ago that threats rarely announced themselves. Caelith sat on the edge of the bed and talked. She started from the beginning. The dreams. The feeling on the street that first Wednesday. The black car and the chemical cloth and the ritual room with the candles that didn't flicker. It was reference from an old author called Ushio Sakamoto. The book was called ‘Hearts with no bound’. It was about a humanoid male doll whose creator’s dying wish was for the doll to find a purpose to his existence, simply put to find a human that made his core beat and protect that human. He found that emotion with a female human. It was a classic piece that I had Azrael read repeatedly to me because it was romantic but tragic that it made me cry each time.
