My mother and I fall asleep together as my demons visit me when I'm asleep. The demons quickly began to infiltrate the area. I held wide arms to greet them. "Welcome, my friends and foes, I have called you here to let you know that I need you. We've had our days of love and hate, but today is for war. The enemies have come so close that it hits to the bone. The enemies stepped into our territory and attempted to take Mother's life without mercy. Mother is our maker and creator. She is our god, and we can't let her die. We cannot let the enemies step into our territory without facing the repercussions.

My mother sank into a chair, her hands trembling as she pressed them against her face. When she looked up, her eyes were haunted. "That woman is no ordinary ghost," she said quietly. "She's one of the original demons. One of the first to fall when Lucifer rebelled. Her name is Lyssa, and she is the demon of rage—of uncontrolled, consuming anger that drives people to madness and violence."

They whirled around and around Zinfer in a giant ball of fire. The fire stopped suddenly, as though frozen in place. Shrushaw lowered her arms and stared confusedly at the inferno that had suddenly stopped spinning. The ball shot forward toward the cave and the following concussion of sound and wind threw Shrushaw several yards back. A woman was standing at the mouth of the cave, she was dressed in silvery white. Her black hair flowed around her and several dark demons flanked her side. She smiled, and Shrushaw knew who she was. Ma’oz’s POV From my experience, when a demoness marches out with that sort of dark and tempestuous aura, all hell breaks loose. Homes will be wrecked, forests ripped bare, and the very course of the river will change. It would take days, if not weeks before the demoness can be placated. Usually, it involves the taking the spleen of whoever angers her. My mother was unusual. She never had such fits of anger or outbursts that damaged the realm. Many claimed she was too calm, too demure to be one of us.
