There was no obvious connection to anything. Jin never mentioned it. Neither did I. The night I fell asleep at my workstation during the third consecutive overnight documentation period — the territorial boundary dispute had generated four hundred pages of correspondence in six days, and I was the only one who had a complete enough understanding of the case history to process it efficiently. She took out a dark book of magic, flipping through the pages while I watched her in silence. The pages looked paper-thin as if held together just by a spider web thread that would tear at any instance. She closed her eyes and seemed to be doing something with her mind. Her hand hovered over the book while she held one of it in her other hand and began chanting again.

“Young man, don’t get cocky. Do you think this is the end of it? “You have no idea who you’ve offended. “The people behind this would make sure you meet the end of your life!” He was still threatening me, but I was no longer afraid. I had already opened the pandora box. I was able to deal with whatever monsters that leaped out from it. “Take him away!” Peter gestured with his hands and Greg was dragged out like a dead dog. Mary collapsed onto the floor in a daze. Charlie was still crying for more milk. I touched the bandage on my neck.

I turned through the pages of the spell book with shaky hands until I finally settled on what I was searching for. “Thrakos, Demon of the Underworld, Lord of Hell,” I whispered, my fingers tracing the forbidden verse. “He who commands the forbidden flames of the devil's domain,” my voice grew louder, desperation etched in my eyes, "I call thee, Thrakos. I summon thee to the mortal realm. Kneel before–” The sound of thunder cracking cut me short before I could complete my words. The ground began to rumble and the circle I had engraved on the ground expanded outwards as dark smoke clouded the entire place.
