Damien had said that his mother wanted to apologize and start over, but it was still intimidating to see her standing there looking like a warrior with a scowl that I assumed was either normal or had been reserved just for interactions with me.
Her long black hair had been pulled into a braid and hung over the front of her shoulder to her waist, and the furs she wore looked new. She wore multiple long beaded and braided necklaces at different lengths, and the shortest of them held what appeared to be the tip of a horn, sharp and deadly.
"Mom," Damien said as he stepped forward. There was a hesitance in his voice, but from the way he gripped my hand tightly, I knew he was also excited.
