"And I don't understand how your cowardly fiancé let go of a woman like you."
"And why did you end your engagement?" Max sighed.
"Because if I continued with it, I would end up hating myself for wasting time on someone who's not worth it. I would be expending energy on something I don't need in my life. I know that destiny will put each person in their place," Max raised his hand and caressed the curve of her neck, making her shiver with that gesture. "Just like it brought you and me together, first in Hawaii and then in New York," another pause. Max leaned closer to her, causing her to lower her gaze to his chest. She licked her lips and grew more nervous than he was making her.
