she whispered, then knocked softly and opened the door.
She stepped inside, her heart pounding. The room was dimly lit, the air thick with the scent of incense. Dante stood by the window, his back to her. He turned slowly as she entered, his dark eyes locking onto hers.
"You're awake," he said, his voice smooth and controlled. "I was beginning to worry." He smirked
She stood her ground, meeting his gaze with as much defiance as she could muster. "What do you want from me?"
Dante smiled, a cold, calculating smile that sent shivers down her spine. "I want you to understand your place here," he said, his tone almost gentle. "You are important to me, and I need you to see that."
