With the blinking of an eye, we clawed out his throat in a single strike. The rogue’s body dropped lifelessly in an instance, its blood rapidly soaking into the earth, the scent of its soul lingering in the air. “You should have listened,” Dexter wiped his bloodied paw and its fur. After a brief glance at the rogue’s carcass, he picked the pup with his mouth, and carefully placed him on his back. He turned to leave. "Officer, this contains all the original evidence." Jared had someone set up a high-definition projector facing the white display wall at the neighborhood entrance. A massive image appeared on it, clear enough for every onlooking resident to see. There was only a single folder displayed on the screen, labeled "Evidence Chain". Inside were 147 high-resolution photos, 39 video clips, and 23 audio recordings. Everything had been carefully organized in chronological order. Jared opened the first clip. She turned around, eyes wide when she looked at us. “You are..... magnificent..” she whispered, walking towards us and running her fingers through Dex’s thick, black fur. He lowered his body and she leaped up, positioning herself atop his back. We grabbed the backpack in our mouth, tossing it up to Kiera to put on. Dex craned his neck, sniffing the stake. He nudged it and growled, before grasping onto it with his teeth. ‘I can still taste the filth on this,’ he muttered, swallowing down a gag.

I didn't understand what he wanted to check, but I knew that Dax did know about it. We entered the car and drove to the pack border. As we alighted, Seth started sniffing around. He walked past us, as if he forgot that we were with him, and was focusing on a particular direction. That instant, his chief guard hurried to him, causing me to halt and turn to Dax. "Is anything the problem? Is he trying to find out something that would make him change his mind?” Dax glanced at me and shook his head. “Since I am a rogue, I can't smell if a fellow rogue is after launching an attack on my pack. My wolf had been howling, so it means that there's danger that I can't detect ahead.”
