Chapter 76: The Cracks in the High-Rise The velvet box sat open on the glass coffee table. Its contents caught the light of the Manhattan penthouse. Inside was a 1932-cut diamond. It was unpolished, jagged and held a multi-billion-dollar secret. Elena stood a foot away. Her arms were crossed tightly as she stared at the diamond. For months Julian's family had looked down on her. They treated her like a distraction in his life. The Vane dynasty valued perfection. Arranged corporate mergers. They wanted a woman who could be molded into a piece of background decoration. They had no idea that this rough diamond was the Julian needed to tear down his fathers facade.

As I stood before the Goddess, the spectral wolf regarded me with eyes that held ancient wisdom and, surprisingly, recognition. The one they call the Jayrodale's King of Diamonds?" He gasped and questioned, "It's a 7.5-million-dollar diamond? How the hell did you get your hands on that?" The commotion drew the attention of Stevens Corporation employees and passersby. They gathered around, gawking at the jewel that had been the fantasy of countless women in Jayrodale, a dream gift from a Prince Charming that no one could afford.

As I stared down at the glimmering diamond ring, I could only think about how ironic this entire thing was. "You have a horrible memory, Dean. This ring is filthy." I walked over and grabbed the ring. Dean grinned with glee, foolishly assuming that I'd changed my mind. "Eve, you..." However, his face soon went stiff, frozen in place. I raised my hand and threw the priceless diamond ring down to the patch of grass at the bottom of the building. Tears welled up in his eyes as he gazed down in dejection, clinging to the railing.

Dominique asked with curiosity. “Um, no, I just…” I stutter. Grabbing the box, Dominique pulls the necklace out slowly. I watch as he observed it. “This one is called the Diamond Tear. It’s a single Diamond in the form of a teardrop. The necklace is white gold, twenty carats. It’s a unique one in the world,” the woman explained briefly. Dominique raised his hand. Silently, I stare at the Diamond. Somehow my head started pounding. Groaning in pain, I held my head.

I said in all seriousness, and Damiano chuckled. “We can get you some chicken nuggets after.” “I’m telling you; it’s worth every penny.” Damiano slightly shook his head, completely amused that I was discussing chicken nuggets with such seriousness. “Ladies and gentlemen, it is with a great privilege that I stand before you today to introduce a true marvel of nature’s artistry; the renowned Tiffany Yellow Diamond!” The entire banquet gasped by the incredible diamond necklace.

He opened the box carefully, revealing a gold pendant with a red diamond in the center. “This diamond,” he explained, tilting it slightly so the light caught it, “is one of a kind. It was mined from a site my family has owned for generations.” “It’s impressive,” I admitted, watching as the diamond seemed to emit its own glow. “And it’s symbolic,” Khalid continued, placing the pendant on the table between us. “Because like this diamond, true alliances are rare and difficult to find. But when you have them, they shine brighter than anything else.”
