I resisted the urge to give in and pushed away the fingers clawing at my mind. I looked at the other two. Both Dudley and Maurice’s movements had become stiff and slow-paced, their limbs moved as if weighted down. Their eyes were pitch-black and their faces were frozen in a grimace of stark terror. They had turned around and were coming for me, fighting to stop themselves, but unable. How was he controlling them? He was a necromancer. He couldn’t control the living only the... and suddenly it all made sense. How long had we been dead?

He tumbled along the ground and stopped motionless, lying like a broken doll. “No!” I didn’t even realize at first that it was me who had cried out. Was he dead? No, his soul wasn’t flying away! And even if it was, I would get it back. I was a necromancer, dammit. Rage and desperation flashed inside me, and my other half got the upper hand. Instead of banishing the devourers with my necromantic power, I immolated them with a stream of scorching flames. It didn’t really matter anymore, though.

“Say what you came to say.” Varian tilted his head. “The dead want you, brother. They want their Alpha back.” The ground shook. From behind the heirs’ army, the snow split. Bones clawed their way up. Old armor rattled. Wolves with matted fur and glowing red eyes pulled themselves from the earth. Necromancy. On a scale Malric couldn’t have dreamed of. A hundred undead stood between the heirs and the gates. Ryn cursed. “Gods, I hate magic.”

The fallen soldiers, even those who had been sliced in half, began to twitch and rise, their bodies reanimated by Hugh’s call. Prince Ludiciel and everyone else froze, eyes wide in horror as they watched the dead claw their way back to life. The battlefield that was once filled with bloodshed now became an even more terrifying nightmare. "Necromancy…" Sera hissed, her lip curling in disgust. "I can't believe he has a necromancer on his side. I thought they were all extinct." Alaric groaned, his face twisted in frustration as he flew down. "Tch, things just got a lot worse."

With a swift and deadly motion, I sent her flying into the wall behind Raphael, the impact sending dust and debris flying everywhere. The sudden influx of Necromancers was like a dark tide, flooding into the room with a ferocity that was almost palpable. For a moment, they paused, their eyes fixed on the lifeless form of their leader, lying motionless on the floor. It was a fleeting moment of hesitation, but it was enough to confirm my suspicion - the dead Necromancer had indeed been their leader.

He began to crawl further into the darkness, feeling the path the voice wanted him to follow. As he crawled, a strange feeling invaded his battered body. He felt as if he were near a fire that caused damage without heat. Again, he felt that he must remember something, but he didn't know what. -"Lord of the Necromancers" Her back arched violently as a thousand stars exploded in her broken mind. The scattered debris fell inward, glowing, incandescent. "I am a Necromancer. I am… the Lord of Necromancers." His mouth was not used to uttering sounds and the words came out hesitantly.

He stared at where the portal had stood, jaw not quite on the floor. "I'm going to grab a can of soda, do you want something?" I asked, but it didn't seem like he'd heard me. I headed for the kitchen. Hunter followed me slowly, appearing in the kitchen doorway as I opened my soda. He had a look of concern on his face, or maybe it was uncertainty? I waited for him to say something first. I didn't want to rush this for him. "What are you?" he asked finally. I set my soda down on the counter I leaned back against. "I am a Necromancer, a Summoner to be exact. And so are you."

I cast another spell, this time summoning an army of fierce spirits to fight alongside me. The spirits materialize, their eyes glowing with a fierce intensity. With a wave of my hand, they charge towards the Silver Hunters, their ghostly claws tearing through the air. The Hunters are taken aback, but they're also prepared. They've been practicing their magic, and one of them casts a spell that sweeps through my spirits, decimating them. My heart sinks. This will be even harder than I thought. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Heather running away. She's made it to safety.
