Malcolm and Charles finally climbed down from Spiro’s dragon with less dignity than anyone should have after asking to see a dragon kingdom. Malcolm’s legs shook slightly. Charles looked at the courtyard, the walls, the guards, the gold-lined towers, and the channels of heat beyond the far arch. Charles swallowed and said, “So this is real.” Spiro shifted back into human form, clothed in his scales, and gave him a dry look. “You rode a dragon here.” Charles replied, “I know. I am still processing.”
