The first day of travel passed quickly for Izzy. Her nerves couldn't decide if they were bursting out of sheer excitement or bursting from the nervous energy at the overwhelming prospect of finally participating in her own Hunt. She had been waiting years for her turn to participate, always listening with rapt attention to the regales from mates that returned with hunters to Ellisvale in prior years. The caravan made camp that night halfway to Castle Rouge having escaped an altercation with raiders thus far. They had made their way through the forest and were camping next to a large river, a campground that Ellisvale used each year when they travelled to the Hunt with their hunters and prey.

Metal, sweat, and something chemical. “Hunters,” I said under my breath. As if in answer, the first explosion rocked the camp. A fireball erupted from one of the far tents, sending shrapnel flying. Screams broke out as rogues scattered in every direction. Another explosion followed, and then the sharp crack of gunfire. My heart pounded as chaos erupted around us. “They’ve infiltrated the camp!” someone shouted. “Wolf hunters!” “Everyone, arm yourselves!” I roared, my voice cutting through the panic. “Protect the women and children!”

Hunter said to Joel and Edgar. Joel stopped drinking his ice Americano and he looked at Hunter together with Edgar. “He wanted to be what?” Joel asked Edgar. “A writer,” Edgar answered. Hunter nodded his head. “That’s right. When I was a young pub and my father took me to hunt in the woods, my dream to write my adventure started. I wanted to make a children's book.” Joel and Edgar looked at each other. Well, a childish man like Hunter might be perfect for a children's book. That’s what they thought.

I swear I've seen this person somewhere… I turn around and follow Atticus, making a mental note of what the Hunter looked like; even if it was a side profile, it was enough for me to remember. When we get far enough, we start running towards the campsite. I head to Molly's tent and rush in and wake her and Olivia, "Hey!" I harshly whisper, "Get up!" Molly murmurs, "Wha-Huh? WHat's going on?" "Ugh, Shut up," Olivia says, putting a pillow over her head. I snatch it from her, "We have to leave! There's a Hunter out here!"

Lancaster returned to their camp, ready to rally their allies, inspire hope, and embark on a quest to vanquish the evils that threatened their existence. As the flames of the campfire rose higher, so did their spirits, igniting a beacon of hope that would guide them through the darkest of nights. The next day scouts came to them complaining about the rogue vampires and hunters terrorizing deep in the woods, they knew they couldn’t wait any longer and had to move quickly at nightfall. He unlocked the gun case and gestured inside. “Pick. Ladies first, gentlemen.” A shiver ran down my spine as his husky voice washed over me. I grabbed a rifle, not even caring which one it was in my hurry to get away from the tantalizing scent the man wore. I deposited my bag inside of the gun safe and walked out of the hall. I was determined to put as much distance between me and them as I could. We normally hunted in groups, but my father had taught me well enough that I could take down a deer by myself. Getting it back to town, on the other hand, would require the men. Fuck.

The Hunter Organization. A mysterious entity that Mr. Aikens, Mane’s teacher back at the Wielder Academy, had refused to speak on. Although they had built and nurtured Wielder Academies all over the planet of Zandor, very little was known about those who were the true backbone of this institution. All that the commonfolk knew was that it was comprised of individuals called hunters who farmed and killed dangerous creatures and sold them to wealthy merchants for processing. There were rumours that they were also in charge of protecting the world, but when Zandor had been invaded, they disappeared. This made people realize that it was this was a baseless rumour.
