The seductive mask slipped, just for a second.
“It’s not what you think,” I said quickly, keeping my tone polite, careful not to sound like some cop or private eye.
“I’m just trying to find a woman who works here.”
She arched a perfectly shaped brow.
“Her name is Pattie. Pattie Paul.”
The instant the name left my lips, surprise flashed across her face—then she laughed softly, a low, knowing sound.
“You mean Pattie?” Her mouth curved into a slow, wicked smile. “If you wanted to see her, sir, you should’ve gone straight to the Diamond Club.”
