ISLA'S POV The ticking of the office clock had become the metronome of my despair. Six years. For two thousand, one hundred and ninety days, I had survived in the sleek, glass-and-steel corridors of the Blackthorne Group, fueled entirely by a promise that was slowly turning to ash.

Dante chimed in. "Well, her current situation is quite critical as you brought her in extremely late, and due to the scan we did, she fell on her back as her head hit something hard which affected her left brain, I can't say she would solve this or not, but her Broca area is also faulty which extends to her spinal cord, as I guess she uses a wheelchair right?" The doctor asked. "Yes doctor she uses, a wheelchair," I responded, but my worry grew even more when he said.

He hesitated a few times before saying, "Well... Miss Rein, have you felt anything different lately?" Seeing the doctor's look, and listening to his question, Danica had a bad feeling. She hesitated and nodded. "Yes... I've seen double once or twice, but I recovered after taking medicine and rest. Is there anything wrong? Did the report come out bad?" "Yes!" The doctor let out a heavy sigh. He turned on a machine and put a CT scan of her brain on it. He pointed at a white circle and explained, "Look at here. This is a recurrent tumor!"

My parents and Sharon hurried over to him, their faces full of fawning smiles. Second Pops took the surgery order and casually flipped through it. His expression went cold almost immediately. "A brain transplant? Who accepted this case? Are you out of your minds? This surgery is extremely difficult, and there hasn't been a single successful case in the world. I can't do it."

He said, "If you'll excuse me, then I would prescribe the right herbs for how to use, and believe me, she will be perfectly all right. You guys don't have to be threatening about it." "She had nightmares!" Brody shouted, attacking the doctor as he stopped in his tracks. "No, no! It can't be! She can't be having nightmares and seizures at the same time! It can't!" he said and raced out of the room as the three brothers all stared at me and then followed behind him. "What is going to happen to me at this point?"

“Come in darling. Come on.” I bit the skin behind my lower lip and took a deep breath. Slowly I walked up to her and she led me inside. Instinctively, I sat down without being told, on the same cushioned stool I sat the day after it happened. The doctor turned her monitor to face me. There was an X-ray of two brains. Is it just me or do they still look the same? “You are right actually.” The doctor said, like she had read my mind. “Your parents are still unreceptive.”

His answer stayed longer in the room,Jeremy who had been watching from the corner couldn't help but admire him. Most men would have seized the opportunity,but not Adrain he wanted her heart not her sympathy. The doctor nodded. "Yes." He pointed at the screen again. "Here's Baby A." Then he pointed beside it. "And here's Baby B." Nathaniel simply stared. He looked at the screen. Then at me. Then back at the screen. "There's really..." His voice caught. "...two?" The doctor smiled. "There certainly are." I covered my mouth. Fresh tears spilled down my cheeks. Nathaniel suddenly laughed again. This time it was louder. Almost disbelieving. He rubbed a hand over his face before looking back at the screen.

“This is someone else. She might look like me, but she isn’t me. This girl has slanted blue eyes where I have green.” Amber looked into the bowl and saw the same girl Leah did. She knew immediately that it wasn’t Leah looking back at her. But how could that be? Leah’s twin, Abigail, was separated from her at birth, there was no way that this could be anyone other than Leah. The twin bond was supposed to have been broken years ago. “What does this mean, Mom?” Asked Leah as an ominous feeling began to creep into her. “Is this another version of myself? It was an eight seater dining room even though there were only two people living in the house and no one ever visited.
