MY TABOO STEP DADDY
Heavy but not uncomfortable.
The heater gets a little stronger. Carlton shifts in his seat, winces slightly, then freezes when he realizes I noticed.
"Did I hurt you?" My voice is low now.
He looks away immediately. "No."
"You're lying."
"I'm not."
I turn in my seat to face him fully, studying his profile.
His jaw is tight. His hands are clenched in his lap.
"Carlton."
He exhales, still not looking at me.
"You just don't stop," he admits quietly. "You never stop. You go and go and go until I can't breathe, can't think, can't do anything but take it. My legs hurt. My back hurts. Everything hurts. Are you happy now?"
