“Exploring? Seriously? You call breaking into a maid’s bathroom exploring?” He laughs softly, the sound low and annoyingly charming. “Don’t be so dramatic, Lila. You act like I barged into your diary.” I stare at him, baffled. He’s ridiculous and infuriating. And way too calm for someone naked in a stranger’s bathtub. “What do you want from me, Asher?” I finally ask, my voice flat. He smiles like I just asked what time it is. “Nothing serious. Just to flirt.” I scoff. “Well, I don’t play those games.”

He didn’t understand that my heart already belonged to Eddie. My jaw clenched as I read the words. How could she not see the man Asher was—the goodness, the strength, the care that radiated from him? The words blurred slightly as I lost myself in thought, my mind spinning with everything I’d just read. Lila had been so wrapped up in Eddie that she couldn’t see what was right in front of her. I didn’t notice Asher walk in until his voice broke through my concentration. “Lila?” My head snapped up, and I slammed the journal shut, sliding it into the cover of a larger book on the table. I forced a smile, hoping the panic didn’t show on my face.

He says. "I'm aware of that. But I'm fine. They didn't hurt me." I say coldly. And I turn to go outside and have a smoke. ‘Alpha Asher better make it through this or I will track Jackson down myself.' Lilly says. 'What is your sudden obsession with the Alpha?' I asked. 'I don't know. Did you see his wolf? That was mouth watering.' She says. 'Wow. You are one horny wolf.' I say. 'I am definitely horny over him. You should jump that.' She says.

Lilian's smile widened, and she tilted her head to the side. “I have," she muttered, and my head shot back. “What?" I gasped in confusion. She tore her hand out of my grip and grabbed my shoulders, leaning forward with an evil grin on her face. "Do you love my surprise, Ash?”

If my instinct is correct, then Lilly is fooling herself. RAYMOND’S POV Is Blair tired of Asher or is she up to something? What could she and Asher be planning? Even if I ask Asher now, he is never going to tell me the truth. Matt said, clapping Asher on the shoulder, he shoved the cup of grapes before he took off after Lilly. Asher watches Matt stalk and then sit down next to Lilly. Without even asking he pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her. He glanced over toAsher and Nora who were still kissing. He sighed but then found himself thinking of Lyla. He hadn't been interested in anyone for a long time. “Hey.” He sent Lyla through mindlink He looked around the room, part of him wanting this to be over. He wanted to get back to the pack house and check on her in person.

I expatiate, wrapping my arms around Asher's shoulder. "Lilian is stubborn. That's nothing new about her. Since she's never liked anyone she doesn't know how it feels like and trust me when I say I think she likes him or maybe she does," Asher remarked. "I said the same to her. She never goes by a minute without mentioning his name even if she's insulting him. She's always finding reasons to mention him and talk badly about him and I think it's her way of denying her feelings. She doesn't want to believe she might be liking him," I sighed.

Lillian reappeared. This was beyond what he could have dreamed; he had not known what to anticipate tonight or why Ashford Holdings had asked him. His body stopped as he fixed her, a weird, alien tsunami of feelings slamming into him. He wasn't sure whether it was something else totally, relief, uncertainty, or rage. He could not, however, turn away. Lillian's arrival changed the whole mood. Her appearance had changed the energy in the room; the clamour of the gala vanished into the background. The abrupt force of her strength seemed to have thickened the air itself. Every exchange had stopped, every eye pulled to her.
