Narrow Forehead's back had scraped a layer of plaster dust off the wall. Vivian was on her knees crying. The corners of her mouth had drooped into an angle no cosmetic surgeon would approve of. Her nasolabial folds were swollen from tears. The foundation on either side of her nose had smeared, exposing the large pores underneath. Her fingers clawed at the concrete floor, her nails going white from the pressure, then one of them flipped back entirely, blood gushing from the nail bed and mixing into the filthy water.

Without warning, Dante grabbed his pinkie finger with the pliers— And ripped the nail clean off. The man’s screech of agony was deafening. Blood gushed from the exposed flesh, but Dante didn’t pause. He grabbed the next finger. Ripped the nail off. Another scream. Another nail gone. And another. And another. I have to hurry to the kitchen, so I brace myself and take a deep breath. I quickly rip my foot off the nail. I bit my lip as I hold in my screams. Charles yanked his arm back but I didn’t let go. I did the opposite, I dug my nails in as he pulled, my claws dug into his skin and ripped. Blood pooled and burned, he yanked again this time, ignoring the bite of my nails as they pierced deeper. He wrenched his arm free, or what was left of it.
