Dorian said as he glared back at Christian. Christian decided not to pay any attention to Dorian and seeing that, Dorian answered his question. "I'm going to the club to hang out with my ex-girlfriend," Dorian said. This made Christian stop and turn to look at Dorian. "Her again," He asked and rolled his eyes, "I thought you were done with her" Dorian laughed and said "I am done with her but looks like she isn't done with me and who am I to say no." "You're impossible, Dorian".

"I’ll ask again. Who the hell are you?" The man smirked, unfazed. "My name is Dorian Vale. And like it or not, I’m your best shot at surviving what’s about to happen.” Mark scoffed, arms crossed. "Yeah? And who the hell do you think you are? Dorian looked at him, a hint of amusement on his face. “Because I’m 10 years ready for this war. Because I know who Bryan has become. And because I know how to make him stop.”

"Danae." I jumped backwards, startled. There was Evander seated on my bed, flipping a page of my mother's book over. "What... "I took a deep breath in. "What are you doing in here? Aren't you supposed to be at the function?" I stormed a few feet and snatched my mother's book out of his hands. "I own Alfheim. I can be wherever I wish within these walls." He said, brushing off invisible dirt from his black jacket. "Not while I'm occupying this space. Now. Out." I said, pointing at the door.

Enough to remind me that there was one person left in this world who didn’t look at me like prey. I pressed the green button and the call connected with a faint buzz. “Dorian.” I breathed. “Hey, baby.” My throat tightened. The sight on the screen knocked the breath from my lungs—Dorian, shirtless, his skin catching the light in ways that made my chest clench. He wasn’t sculpted like men in magazines, and yet he was… perfect. His shoulders, his messy hair, the careless way he leaned—it was enough to make heat crawl up my spine.

And from her phone? I swallowed, reached for the device, and answered. “Hello?” Dorian’s voice burst through the speaker before I even finished the word. “You… how could you sleep with someone who murdered my mother? How could you embarrass me in my coronation at my own pack?” he shouted, his rage spilling through the line like fire. I could imagine him pacing, fists clenched, jaw tightened, the veins on his forehead bulging. I had seen that anger before. Too many times.

Dorian shouted, jumping out of the truck, pulling me from my thoughts. I hugged him tight, glad to see him, though I couldn’t help but notice how much bigger he was now. "Look at you, getting taller every time I see you." Dorian introduced Pax, and I shook his hand, still trying to wrap my head around the idea of Seren being involved with someone like him. “I didn’t expect to see you here,” I said to Pax, still trying to keep my tone neutral. “I came with Dorian,” Pax said with a smile, though there was something guarded in his eyes. “Good to see you, Beta Darius Morrow.”

Her bodyguard was finally showing the emotions he had been refusing to admit “ I was just writing a continuation of my book. I still don't understand what all that drama was about earlier.
