"When I say so, everyone needs to dribble some blood on the ground. I don't care how you do it, but it needs to hit the pavement." Snarls, some a little more animalistic than human, sounded. I began the long sequence of the Ancestor's Storm spell. As soon as the last syllable fell from my lips, I yelled, "NOW!" I launched immediately into Conjuration of Soul Draining. The reversal of magic from the crazy lady wearing Ferria rocked through our group like we'd been hit by a tidal wave. I held onto Kiema as if all our lives depended on it. They did. They really fucking did.

I took a deep breath and stared at his hand. “Reveal,” I began my spell. It started like before. The glowing spiral started circling around the hall, surrounding us. But there was also something different, the words went faster. I could hardly see the signs or separate the words in the demonic language. “Slow down!” I ordered raising my hands. The demonic power listened to my voice, and suddenly the signs became more readable. “This… is amazing…” Samil muttered, observing the stream of energy which floated from his hand and spun around the hall.

I didn't know where I was but I noticed the houses seemed to have changed, I knew I wasn't hallucinating. Inside of me was unstable as my mind kept trying to collect what had happened, but I didn't want to recall the incident, what I had done, what I had let happen, and the power that got unleashed once again. My hands got cold and my calm breathing began to grow harsh again, as I knelt holding my chest. The image of Jeffrey was stuck in my head, at some point it went blank …. I couldn't believe it, but it wasn't there any longer. I had fainted the moment I felt the control of the spell letting go and slipping away. The last thing I could remember was their faces.

Jesse thought he’d read that in his comics, and that if some weird voodoo-black magic had trapped Scott in that triangle and Jesse tried to push him out with a stick, maybe Scott would go crazy and have seizures and . Wait. Jesse pointed his flashlight where Scott had seen the board on the wall. Careful to side step the triangle that had trapped Scott, he approached it. Much as he hated himself, he couldn’t make himself look at Scott as he passed. In his comics Dr. Strange was always saying spells and opening the third eye, making weird hand gestures for magic. Maybe the words Scott thought he’d seen on the plaque were magic words that would set him free? Jesse’s flashlight lit up the board.

Osborn stood in front of Rogan. The spiritual pressure from him washed toward Wilbur like a tidal wave. The speed of his spell casting was too fast to be visible. Osborn cast a spell almost instantly. "Curse of the Dead." Osborn struggled to point a finger at Wilbur as if that finger carried the weight of the world behind it. A gray ball of light floated out from his finger and flew toward Wilbur. That was an advanced spell, the Curse of the Dead.

She replied. “In that case, I have an idea” Drake said and he brought his hand forward. He used the little strength he could muster and transformed just his hand to his dragon. Then he took out one of his scales and tossed it at her to which she caught in confusion. “What’s this for?” she asked. Drake was breathing heavily, that little action had triggered the spell backlash on him and he felt even weaker. “A sign for Xavier and to start up our plan” he managed to say in between breaths.

As it turns out, there was a lot. Love spells to capture the heart, though burdened with consequences. Truth spells to sort out lies and uncover secrets. Strength and energy spells to help in combat. Protection, banishment, containment, and illusion spells were a few more I was trying to wrap my head around, and that wasn’t even the full extent of it. We’d just finished eating when Sterling’s phone began to ring in the pocket of his blazer. Instantly, his demeanor changed. He’d always been a bit cold and aloof but staring into his eyes now felt akin to being lost in a snowstorm.

"But it’s not biological. It’s magical residue. Void energy. It’s... it’s eating my healing spells." Ashren leaned over Drax, pinning his shoulders. He didn't use his Alpha voice; that would only challenge the wolf inside Drax. He used the voice of a brother. "Drax," Ashren said, low and steady. "Look at me. You're out. You're on the ship. You're safe." Drax’s eyes flew open. The whites were gone, consumed by the same milky film I had seen on the thralls in the prison. "Ashren?" he wheezed.

With a deep voice and determination, I chanted the ancient mantra that I had mastered. “Zyrathia'shael, norathixius drakon. Lok'varanath, keltharum'gorn. In the hidden world, I ask that you be bound within the walls of time. Buffalo demon and his followers, you shall not escape again into this world. This spell separates you from the real-world forever!” The moment those words left my lips, magical energy enveloped my surroundings. Silvery-blue light poured out of my palms and formed a protective circle around me. In the distance, there was a rumble, and the shadow of that demonic power began to float and try to resist this spell.
