The sharp scent of ash, smoke, and mold melded together to create an aroma that was as acrid as it was thick.
Each step, each movement was carefully placed. At one point, Draco closed a door too hard, and half the wall came tumbling down. Any more mishaps and not only would the neighbors be alerted, but so would the local authorities.
“How exactly did Felix die, anyway?” I asked Azrael, “It’s been bothering me for a long time. I know I hit him pretty hard with that toaster, but it couldn’t have been enough to kill him.”
My darling, vicious mate pulled me into his arms, cradled my jaw with his hand, and murmured against my lips, “I shattered his bones, then tore out his throat.”
