(Harper’s POV) The angel blade glowed as I reached for it. I pulled it from the hilt on my thigh and spun, slicing the now fully lit up blade through the two vamps that were closing in on me. They barely had time to recognise that their time was up before the light left their eyes and their demon blood burnt them up from the inside.

She closed her eyes and let out a sigh, she was done. The fight had ended. Timmy Stormblood (two hundred thousand perus) had defeated Deputy Officer Eithne Short-eye (two hundred thousand perus). ... Ashrak said, walking towards him, but just as she stepped three feet away from him, Blade dragged her towards him, making her fall onto his thighs. A small scream escaped her lips. Without giving her time to settle down fully on his thighs, he sank his canines deep into her neck, causing her to scream in an unimaginable way. But Blade never cared as he drank her blood. No one present—not the three bewildered thugs, nor the whimpering leader, Blade—had clearly seen the move. Skylar Vance’s hand, small and delicate, looked utterly frail, yet it had crushed the muscle and bone of Blade’s thick forearm with casual ease. The sound of splintering bone was relentless, a horrifying, staccato crack-crack-crack that merged sickeningly with Blade’s uncontrollable, animalistic shrieks. The pack was in danger now. Dayton walked back then, holding two silver blades. They gleamed in the evening light. The edges looked sharp enough to cut through anything. “The men are ready,” he said. “All armed with silver blades. This will hurt those vampires badly.” He handed one to Damon. Damon took it, nodding. He swung it a bit to feel the balance. It looked good in his hand. Dayton stared at me next. His eyes were hard, like he was testing me. Damon watched too, arms crossed, waiting.

Rather he and his men saved her. Bright light flooded the room and Rosy pulled the duvet down to see a very furious Sergio glaring down at her. “What happened? Who was that?” She stammered at him. Instead of answering, he withdrew a military knife from his waistband. Still staring hard at Rosy, he slid it across his palm and Rosy gasped in terror. She tried scrambling away from him but he was faster. He caught her by wrist and in one swift motion sliced her palm, droplets of her blood ruining the bed covers.

Other people moved to help her, but I didn’t move. Blood splattered across the ground. She cried out as the vampire cut through her clothes. Then, she grunted and flipped it over, pulling a shining silver blade out of somewhere and driving it between the vampire’s eyebrows with a sharp grunt of exertion. My jaw dropped open as the vampire screeched and shook. The blade of the dagger glowed bright red as the body went still and began to disintegrate. She tucked the blade back into her holster with a grimace before looking over at Cillian.

Blade’s shoulders slumped with helplessness and grief. He knew Jake for a long time. He’d been a strong man and a skilled warrior. Few could cross paths with him and manage to do so much damage. His gasping words echoed through Blade’s mind. Vampire, he’d gasped, choking on his blood as he collapsed in the foyer. D-Droves of them. Sharp Armor. Help!

And this time, the bitter smile on my lips and the question in my head about the dagger now has a clearer reason. With my free hand, I stretched my hand and carried my blue-eyed little man in my arms. A tear escaped from my eyes as I bent my head to touch Hadleigh’s forehead with mine. “Hence, this is what your father wanted for this thing.
