Beside him were two enforcers—broad men with dead eyes and matching pistols tucked at their waists. Zeno smiled, cold and confident. “You really are your father’s son. Always trying to be a hero.” Mason’s fingers curled into fists. “He was a hero. You just made the world forget.” “Mm,” Zeno mused, glancing around. “You came alone. Admirable. Foolish, but admirable.”

Zeno couldn't call her back, even if he wanted to. Right then, he knew he had just one task, and that was to change the course of whatever Draekon planned to do today. "Let's go." He said to the sentinel, and they both headed down to receive Draekon. The closer Zeno got to the entrance of his castle, the more the energy within shifted. Enzo’s POV I felt permanently on edge after Bennett’s latest intrusive message. It became impossible to distract myself, because every time I opened a book in the library or ran past a tree at training, I expected to see the words ‘I told you so’ inked or carved there. He’d effectively managed to infiltrate our lives – and my blooming paranoia wasn’t even the worst problem Scar and I had to deal with.

My weak eyelids gave way, and my eyes stared at the blank, white ceiling far above me. I was alive. But barely. I was alive, but he didn't feel like he had any control over my body whatsoever. I felt like my head was disconnected from the rest of my body.
