Reynolds drove through the pouring rain with the wipers barely keeping up, the city lights bleeding across the windshield like smeared accusations. The USB drive sat on the passenger seat like a living thing, pulsing with every secret it carried. He had driven for hours trying to outrun the decision he had already made. Giving it to the girl. Letting her see the full truth. Watching her world crack open even wider than it already had.

She continued to look down at the book, refusing to make eye contact. “How do you suppose your journal got there?” he asked. She looked him in the eye, doing her best to keep a straight face. “I was walking home last night, and I lost it somewhere. Maybe they found it.” He studied her. Finally, he said, “Maybe.” They stood there, in silence. “The weirdest thing of all,” he continued, “is that, before I went completely unconscious, I could have sworn I saw you there, standing over me, yelling at those guys to leave me alone….Isn’t that crazy?”

“Not yet.” Grace didn’t move. She still felt the heat of his stare on her skin. The way his voice had dropped when he said her name. *You’re mine now.* Not a threat. Not a warning. A claim. *Later that night.* They met Cain’s driver at a dark, window-tinted SUV parked just outside an abandoned textile mill on the city’s edge. No words. Just a nod, and the silent command to follow. Inside, it was surprisingly clean. Industrial. Concrete and glass, shadows and surveillance. A room meant for secrets.

He then opened the car door for his daughter. Feeling she had no choice, Stefany then stepped into the car. Inside, her mother, Mrs. Emily, was already sitting quietly, but her facial expression implied a hard-to-hide anxiety. Stefany sat in the back seat, while Mr. Frank closed the door and immediately got into the driver's side. "Drive now," he ordered the driver. "Ready, Sir!" the driver replied. The car drove again, leaving the small snowy road in Bibury Village. Stefany looked out the window, seeing the village houses slowly disappearing from view. Her heart began to feel restless.

I screamed at the excruciating pain, losing the wheel immediately and getting off the road and towards the edge of the bridge. I tried using my right arm to drive but it was almost next to impossible, while I was a leftie, I was used to driving with my left and not my right. I couldn't drive, the pain was too much and with the pain in my head and torso I was losing blood from so many places.
