The Vampire King's Sacrifice
Something about the way Sahina said it didn’t feel like a threat thrown in anger… it felt like a calm, and certain fact.
Then the word flashed through Dua's mind like a spark catching fire. "Tonight."
The routes, guards, timing... her whole plan flashed before her eyes.
A slow breath slipped past her lips, and just like that, the fear cracked, and a smile followed.
"Of course," Dua said lightly, tilting her head. "It wouldn’t."
Sahina’s eyes narrowed just slightly.
Dua leaned back in her seat, relaxed, like nothing had just passed between them. "I mean, I’m not planning to stay here forever," she added casually, picking up her cup like she hadn’t just walked into dangerous territory.
