The duck quacked in perfect, sarcastic timing.
The room stifled laughter, but Nathan didn’t move. He let the quack hang in the air like a challenge, and then, slowly, deliberately, he crouched, bringing himself eye-level with the duck. Silence. Everyone leaned in, curious. He tilted his head, eyes narrowing in mock contemplation, then nodded once, sharply.
