The recent health scare had shaken him to his core, forcing him to confront his mortality. The conversation with his sons, Fabio and Felix, had been a wake-up call. He knew it was time to bring them into the fold and make them aware of the complexities and dangers of their business dealings. Taking a deep breath, Duncan picked up the phone and dialed Thompson’s number. After a few rings, his old friend’s voice came through the line.

After he couldn't see him anymore, Makai crouched low, trying to attack if needed. Damien flew out of the trees at the back of whoever was standing in front of Ni-Ko, tackled him to the ground. Once he saw the attacker, Ni-Ko dropped to his knees, doubling over with laughter. Makai ran over quickly, and had the same reaction!

Before I could think to ask him what his name was, Duncan groaned and sat up from the floor. He twisted his bulbous head towards him and scowled, “Who the fuck are you?” The god didn’t skip a beat, reluctantly looking down at Duncan as though he were no more important than the wood scattered along the floor. “You want to know who I am and not the savage beast ready to gouge your eyes out?” Duncan craned his head my way, his hands still clutching his round belly. How rude! I scoffed at the two of them. “First I’m a rabid wolf and now a savage beast. Is that how you plan on doing it? You’re just going to insult me to death?”

Sofia turned to see a tall, imposing woman with close-cropped silver hair standing outside, an amused smirk on her face. "If you two lovebirds are quite finished," the woman said, her voice dry, "we've got work to do." Luca chuckled, shaking his head as he opened his door. "Sofia," he said, "meet Vivian Blackwood. Former CIA operative, current information broker, and the closest thing I have to a fairy godmother." As Sofia stepped out of the car, she felt a mix of anticipation and trepidation.
