"When you built the empathy grid, you built it on the principle of stillness. You thought peace meant the absence of movement. But the earth is never still, Jace. She snatched the clipboard from his hand. It wasn’t a clipboard at all, but a piece of the Golden Book he’d tried to steal. June tore the page in half.

Inside was a velvet-wrapped ledger bound in faded red leather. The Ember Grimoire. It was a chronicle—half memoir, half confession—written in delicate script by Eleanor Montrose. Isabelle’s missing ancestor. “The flame is a memory. A power buried in blood and bone. The Keepers are not chosen,they are awakened. And the price of awakening is always a life.” Isabelle’s heart pounded. She turned the pages faster, until a symbol caught her eye: the intertwined keys. And below it, scrawled in desperate ink:

We keep running for a few more minutes until we get to the old lake. Just like before; it is still dried up. An empty space. Filled with cracked and dried up earth. Empty. Felix gasped with dismay. “I hate to break this to you, young man, but there are also zombies,” Arthur said in a flat tone. “Where’s the safety factor of being here?” Felix pouted. “We might as well go back above ground.” “Does it look like this on the surface?” Arthur asked. “Is the air as clean? The water as sweet? What about the plant life? There are more advantages than disadvantaged in inner earth, I think.” “But, aliens and zombies are here,” Felix moaned. “There are also prehistoric beasts. I’m not sure that the weather and landscape compensate for all of that.”

She rose up to see the shots shine as well and when she looked at her arm, she realised it too was shining a ray of light. “What!?” She exclaimed, demanding an explanation as she looked around the garden. “Iowa, Celeste! Can you hear me?!” She shouted across the garden as she followed the lights. Meanwhile, on the carriage, “Where are we going exactly?” Iowa asked as she watched the sleeping Isuzu. “An exceptional place indeed. No Serviteur in Terra Australis knows about this place.” Celeste answered as they travelled more into the woods. “You see, angels rely on a type of soil that lets them use their capabilities. I am the Angel of Natural Stability so I must keep this place out of the Div

I intoned as others joined in. We were ready to take the earth back, one place at a time. Hold on tight world, the Elites are coming.

Aurora’s P.O.V Ashton didn’t speak at first. He exhaled slowly, rubbing his face with a hand that looked like it had seen too much of the world.
