Tears streaked down Quinn's face when the truth of the fake DNA report came to light. She grabbed his arm and blubbered, "I only did what I did because I love you too much." He would be shocked if the box wasn’t full of all the messages from Nix, Conor, Aarshon, and whoever else was calling. He flipped over onto his side but couldn’t seem to get back to sleep. The door slams hard enough to rattle the glasses on the bar. The laugh that bellows out of me at that shocks even me. I remain exactly where I'm seated, my hand reaching for my phone. The hotel's security feed fills the screen, showing Quinn striding down the corridor with long, furious steps. His shoulders are rigid beneath his jacket, and his expression hasn't softened in the slightest since he stormed out. The elevator doors slide open on the screen, swallowing him from view. My thumb lingers against the edge of the phone before I lock it.

I whispered. Quinn lifted her hand, palm hovering near my temple. “You want truth? Then see it.” Before I could move, she pressed her palm to my forehead. Flashes tore through my mind. Fire. Screams. The metallic taste of blood. A spear flashing under moonlight. Quinn’s arm raised, striking down a beast with glowing eyes and snarling fangs. He’s on his way here.” I nod and it’s only a few moments later when Quirin walks in, covered in blood with a dark, heavy aura rolling off of him. “Alpha Quirin, you should use the new showers that you had installed here. You smell like blood and death. Kennedy doesn’t need to wake up and worry about you. She needs to focus on her own healing,” I tell him. “You need to save Echo too. She pushed herself too hard so that they could warn me that Alphas Jasper and Brogan wanted to kill me. She was willing to give her life to save me. You have to save her,” he says, his voice breaking.

I would have expected this from Anika but not Blue. “Stop, please!” He cries. “Payback’s a bitch!” She mutters as she jabs the blade into his stomach. A pool of blood had slowly built beneath Quinn. And I could see from his eyes that he was steadily growing weaker. “I hate you!” With one final blow, she stabs him in the chest, exactly where the heart would be.. Confusion. But Quinn didn’t panic instead he disappeared. Dante chased him through corridors, blood pounding in his ears. The final confrontation wasn’t grand. Wind howled across the unfinished rooftop, rain slicking the concrete, city lights bleeding into the night below. Dante’s boots scraped as he slammed Quinn back against the half-built barrier. Quinn didn’t scream. He laughed. “Look at you,” Quinn spat blood, smiling through it. “All this for a woman.” Dante’s injured arm trembled, but he didn’t release him. “You used Ashley.”
