Leesa was not about to leave her mom and brother with the burden of all that knowledge, especially since the danger from the Necromancer and the black waziri was still out there, nor was she going to let Rome and Smith depart knowing everything they now knew. She let go of Rave’s hand and pulled her cell from her pocket. She pressed a memory button and waited while the phone rang. When the person on the other end picked up, Leesa spoke a single word: “Now.” They waited several minutes, which Leesa mostly spent hugging her mom and her brother. Finally, they heard a fluttering of wings above them and looked up to see a large brown and white owl alight on a branch fifteen feet above the ground.

"We’re going home, right? To our house?" Edward looked down at him. "That’s the plan." Oliver whooped and ran toward the car, already narrating his future like a tour guide. "I’m gonna sleep in the room with the round window! And Mommy can have the big one! And there’s space for a treehouse, right? You will build it, right?" Edward laughed. "We’ll see what I can do." I stood there, completely numb, watching them like I’d stepped into someone else’s life.

He sighed, coming to terms with my words because he knows how true they are. “Look, I told you everything I know about that girl the last time you were here. My wife found her in the woods with the dead bodies of other Omegas we believe were her family. Eleanor only saved her life.” His eyes told a different story. Elara’s POV The room was dark. Hostile territory. I sat under the big, fluffy bed. From here, I could see the door and the window, and I had cover from the creepy dolls with the glass eyes. My heart was beating fast. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Like a drum. I closed my eyes and pressed my fingers to my ear, right where my comms used to be. "Eagle One.” I whispered. Assuming his family is gone, it must’ve been because they were hunting strong witches. The door of Hilda’s room opens before that. Her hair is in a neat bun, and she’s changed her dress to a pale green one. “Give it a rest, brat.” She narrows her eyes at Edda “And focus on memorizing the constellations.” With a pout, Edda goes back to her book.
