Beside me, Eileen noticed immediately. “Oh no,” she whispered dramatically. “The emotionally constipated men are staring again.” I elbowed her lightly. “Stop talking.” “I’m serious,” she muttered. “Ragnar especially looks one bad day away from starting a war.” Unfortunately, she wasn’t wrong. Then suddenly, I remembered what the board member said last night. Miss Eileen is only attending this academy temporarily. I turned toward her quickly. “Wait. How exactly did you even end up here?” Eileen’s expression shifted instantly. For one brief second, her smile disappeared completely. Then it returned almost too quickly.

Connor's call came: "Sorry Mrs. Parsons, I have something urgent to handle and can't make it. Next time, I'll host and make it up to you." "It's alright." Eileen replied calmly: "We're friends, let's meet another time. I'll hang up now." She ended the call and walked straight to Amelia. "May I sit here?" Eileen asked cautiously. She took a step toward them, the silk of her gown whispering with movement. “If I wanted someone hovering over me while I undressed, I would have asked.”

Eileen took a breath and hit send. Her heart was pounding. She got up and began to pace the floor, her hands on her head. Mrs. Maya gulped down a glass of water, trying to steady her nerves. I informed him. “Aight,” he nodded. We were just about stepping out of the door, when Eileen called out on us. “Ryker! Caden!” We both turned simultaneously to watch her stroll down the stairs in little haste. “We'll meet you in the car” I said to Carmen. “Yes sir” she bowed, and walked out. “Good Morning, mother” Caden greeted her the moment she hit the last step. “Eileen” I acknowledged. “I'm glad I managed to get you before leaving” she said. “I wanted to give you these” she opened her palm, revealing two amulets.

Sibel’s POV As Eileen stepped back into the room, her presence was like that of an angel, swiftly deflecting the tension that had been building between Cara and me. Her timely return had saved me from a precarious situation that would have undoubtedly blown my cover. If Cara and I had engaged in a battle of wills, she would have been no match for my alpha strength, disguised though it was. But Eileen’s arrival prevented that inevitable outcome, sparing me from the disastrous consequences of revealing my true nature.
