Chapter 1 The creepy foggy atmosphere of the gravesite should’ve scared off any person walking there. Why would anyone in their right mind do so? It wasn’t optimal. It wasn’t smart. Nevertheless here she was, Jasmine, hugging herself from the cold of the spirits there haunting her, walking past unseen eyes as she searched for Amelia France, an eighteen-year-old who was taken by a mobster that her partner was on the verge of catching. His MO was burying his victims alive until eventually, they died.

I gulped before looking at the door, processing the nurse's words as I waited for what Delilah was going to say. “She’s okay,” she called out. “Lysandra’s okay, she’s awake.” Lysandra sat up in her bed, pale and dazed, her hair sticking to her forehead. But her eyes locked onto me with full awareness. “There’s mist inside, I saw it.” she whispered. “It’s here too.” I didn’t ask how she knew. I knew that there was something different about her, and whatever this was, she could sense it too. I looked around and they felt the ground shaking once again, holding my daughter tightly.

The cracking earth. Then Elias stopped. Emily almost collided with him. “What?” He was staring behind them. “Mama.” “We have to keep moving.” “No.” His voice was strangely calm. “We don't.” Emily looked at him. “Why?” Elias turned toward her. “Because I know what it is.” “What?” “The thing underneath us.” Emily's blood ran cold. “What is it?” Elias looked toward the enormous crack. “Me.” Emily stared at him. “No.” “I remember now.”

“I’ll never be your date after what you did to me, and I have no interest in any incubus bars. I’m looking for Elise. She works at the pub where all the different creatures hang out. Some demons frequent there, like … I think his name is Gregor.” “Gregor,” James repeated, his lips curling in an ugly grimace. “You’re looking for the Dead Candle Tavern. It’s right across the street, about five buildings down. You should see if you can……….” Instead of listening to another moment of his annoying voice ramble on and on, I hurried across the street and five buildings down, leaving James where I had met him. I didn’t have any interest in him anymore, and I was still salty as fuck about what he had

He didn't want any of Elijah's bad luck oozing from his shoulder. Elijah stared at the trio as they bounced off. The smell of coffee hanging in the air. He was suddenly craving an espresso. His shoulder stung from the harsh bump earlier. That was far from a mistake and he knew it. He sighed and looked outside to where his assistant was waiting with flowers. He was supposed to have a date today but… he had other plans for the night. *** “So check this, yeah? It's an underground pit,” Drew was bursting with excitement. “I found out about the place two weeks ago and maan! I've been here every night!”

His jaw clenched and his eyes turned the darkest shade and it reminded me of the times I was mesmerized by it. "At this time, there's a witch you're saying." I said not in a mocking way, rather asking him for confirmation. "You would be surprised to know that there are other leaving bodies that exist at this time, Carmela." So it's true. He believes that I am under a spell because of a witch.

Liam lifted his head. Noah stood near the doorway, arms folded, eyes sharp with judgment he didn’t bother hiding. “You look like hell,” Noah said. “Something happen?” Liam didn’t answer immediately. He stared at the empty glass on the coffee table. “I saw her.” Noah didn’t need clarification. “Elara?” Liam nodded. “And?” Noah asked carefully. “I—” Liam swallowed, suddenly feeling the weight of his own words. “She was working at Eclipse Noir. As a server. In a VIP room.”

I said and Joseph looked at me. “There’s something very odd about you,” he said and I smiled again. “Is he dead?” Dylan asked suddenly. “Yes, he got struck by lightning,” I said and Dylan frowned. “Are you serious?” he asked and I nodded. “How is that for karma!” Dylan chuckled and shook his head. “The odd thing is that I can mask my smell and I’m immune to wolf power,” I said to Joseph. “You lucky fish,” Dylan said. “Yes, I realized that because I’m a truth seeker,” Joseph said to me. I looked at him and then I switched it all on. I allowed Joseph to see the real me and I knew that he would hear the truth in my words.

Karis, says meanwhile Alexandra who knew it was true nods her head. "So, what's the colour of the day?" Alexandra heard Karis asks, before drifting back to her thoughts. Involuntarily biting her lower lips, she nearly lets out a small moan, but gets hold of herself in time. Slowly wondering if it was the effect of the series she had just watched. She had just finished watching an episode in Elite, it was a steamy scene. Maybe that would have fueled her desires, because she was damn horny right now, and couldn't think straight, she wasn't even listening to Ruby and Karis conversation again.

As she steps out of the bed to go the washroom, I slap her ass and tell her not to be long. As she walks out of the bathroom, I get up out of bed and give her a quick kiss as I slip into the bathroom. I grab a quick shower and shave, throwing on jeans, a t-shirt, sneakers, and my jacket. As I had entered the room to get dressed, I saw that Elise had already left to go back to her room. I loved that about her – she never overstayed – she was confident and not needy as some I have dated. As single wolves, we all stayed in the Pack house. As an Alpha I had a room on the higher level of the house. Elise was a Gamma, a warrior in our pack. Her floor was a few down from mine.
