Chapter Six Griffith Pulling up in front of the house, I turned off the ignition and sat back. I hadn’t given much thought to why Bailey had chosen Rush, but I understood it now. To pick a club further away from her home would have taken her into another city. I’d had very little traffic to deal with as it was close to three in the morning, but it had taken me almost an hour to arrive. She might have insisted she had the right to do what she wanted, where she wanted, but it was quite obvious that she was taking steps to lower the chance of running into some neighbor by picking a club way across town.

“Ok, don't disappoint me.” “Of course sir.” She nodded and took her seat. “Thank you all for coming here, you can enjoy the rest of your night.” I address them and they all nod in agreement before getting up to leave the conference room. I walk back to my office with Henry and Luke “shoot,” I say glancing at my wristwatch, I didn’t think time had gone by. My wristwatch read 9:30. An hour and a half after that time I told Bailey to meet me at the restaurant.

After saying goodbye to Cruz, I headed to the Clinic, eager to see if Bailey had received my message. But I was glad that I ran into Cruz. I didn't like the way we had left things, and I missed our friendship. "Hi, Bailey! Anyone home?" I asked, stepping inside. Bailey came out from the back. "What are you doing here? I didn't think you'd be in today." I shrugged. "I finished early."

We waited for the worst, for Amos to reappear to torment us further, but were met with peace–and time to really get to know each other. We didn’t leave our room for two whole days. We were too busy living, and fucking, of course, without the watchful, vengeful gaze of a demon peering at us from every angle. “But guess what? I have a date next weekend,” Bailey says slyly, giving my shoulder a little nudge. “With who?” “The fire chief.” “You dog,” I grin, nudging her back. We smile at each other, then laugh, our joy lifting toward the unrelenting sun.

At least she can stand using both of her feet, so when things collapsed behind her back, she can still walk without looking back. Bailey woke up two hours before lunch. She showered after drinking milk, and then joined Serene on the table. “I texted Ethan and he said, he never expected us arriving on time, so it's okay that we are kinda late. He is on his brother's pizza restaurant, and he will take us with him tomorrow. We still need to talk to him, although I don't see the need. We are in, but Ethan still wanted to meet us. That asshole.” She rolled her eyes, and then bite the tuna sandwich Serene prepared while waiting for her to woke up.

Daniel asked cautiously. “Keep driving,” Sebastian said calmly. Daniel blinked but obeyed, steering the car onto the city loop. Evelyn woke a few hours later, rubbing her eyes and glancing at the time. “We’re not there yet? It’s already two o’clock. Didn’t we leave the Callahans’ at eleven?” “Traffic,” Sebastian said evenly. Daniel pressed his lips together, saying nothing. At this hour, Boston traffic was rarely that bad. Evelyn gave a slow nod, still confused.

I was instantly worried. If she went out by morning and isn't back yet by this time, that means Kimberly had been gone for hours now.
