Elf Story Book Novels & Stories

Sort of. My fingers fumbled toward the nightstand. I grabbed the glass of water Rosa always left there and downed half of it in one breath. But the shaking didn’t stop. I turned toward the small shelf near the window and reached for a book. The only thing that could slow my mind down enough to breathe. I flipped the lamp on. Its golden glow bathed the cover in warmth. “The Kingdom of Soft Stars.” A children’s fairytale. Sweet. Magical. It was about a young girl named Elara who could speak to the stars. But the stars only whispered at night—and only if you were brave enough to be alone in the dark.

And yet the last light of the evening fell through. Golden. Warm. Almost alive. There were three beds in the room. Little. Ordinary. Despite the decades. A closet. A table. A shelf full of books. All covered with dust. And yet nothing was left. Not really. It's safe. Like someone was looking after it. “Look at this.” Elio already knelt beside the shelf. The books were old. Very old. Fairy tales. Kidneys. School books. Character blocks. And there was a little notebook in between.

She looks towards the familiar face. Elora is dressed in a light yellow maxi till her knees. "What has got you so lost, Muffin?" "Nothing," saying, she puts her book on the bed and gives all attention to her stepmother. "Let me see what my cute little muffin reads," she picks up the book. Her eyes start twitching reading the texts in the book. She turns it to see its cover. Evolution by Douglas J, says the title. "You've just finished college...take a chill dear," Elora says in a sweet voice.

She smiled and nodded. “Go ahead, Eliana’s daddy.” With trembling hands, Hunter took the storybook from his daughter and followed her to her room. He sat by the bed while Eliana lay down, hugging her doll. “It’s called The Prince Who Came Back to the Castle,” Eliana said. Hunter opened the first page. “Once upon a time… there was a prince who wandered too far from his castle. He forgot who he was, forgot who he loved… But one day, he came back. And found that his home… had always been waiting for him.”

A second later, her entire face changed. “It’s a book!” Eleanor smiled a little. “It is.” Sophie pulled it out immediately, already turning the cover toward herself. It was a children’s book about a little girl who liked building things—bridges, toy houses, tiny inventions made from scraps. Honestly, it was exactly the kind of thing Sophie loved. “She builds stuff?” Sophie asked. “She does,” Eleanor answered. “Very clever stuff.” Sophie flipped through two pages before looking up. “I like it.” “I hoped you would.”

Fox was driving, Rebekah was sitting next to him, and Elijah was next to Melia, who had her gaze fixed on a book he recognized. She saw beyond everything, but no one wanted to see the truth... DALAYA: THE SEARCH The story of a woman who lived in darkness but managed to stand out even in it. JACK DEVERCADE That book was more than just a favorite for her. In tenth grade, the teachers never failed to read them the story of a woman who, after living in caves and suffering, discovered the greatest treasure of all: to continue respecting life despite every adversity. It was a book that moved even the most insensitive soul. They named the woman Dalaya, just like the book, symbolizing struggle, love

***One Month Later Garlands of olive branches and daisies swept through Basharr's palace. The animated statues played music constantly. Courtiers and attendants hustled to brush gold leaf across the palms of every visitor. It was meant to show the prosperity all elves would share under Eden and Violet's reign.

It’s not a particularly good smell—no one would make a cologne out of it—but it eases my chest and makes me feel languid and weightless, like I’m floating in space. I’m hardly paying attention as Justus takes all the books out of the crate to get a hardback at the very bottom. I hadn’t noticed it earlier. It’s an old children’s book. Thumbelina. The fabric cover is threadbare in places, and the gold embossed lettering is tarnished. I remember the story vaguely from the early years at Moon Lake Academy. It’s a human fairy tale.

So I ended up telling her about Lily, Selene and Aurora. “So there’s still one of them roaming free in the castle?” she cried. “Remember the girl who brought us tea the other day?” “That’s why she stared at you like that!” “I’m afraid so.” In the afternoon, she helped me sit by the window with one of the books she’d brought, and told me to open it while she fetched the chest with my brushes and ribbons. My hair was already long enough for her to try more complex braids. I was mesmerized by the book. It was a true work of ark, written in black ink with gorgeous, colorful illustrations in most of the pages. It was a children’s story, telling how the wolves had arrived in the Dale.

My instinct tells me that Kael had a hand in this. Swiftly, I ducked to the other shelf and peer led at the back but found nothing. Maybe the earth knew how much I wanted to read it and here it was. “I’ll take this book.” I muttered. I decided not to open it as it would spoil the fun. I’d read it when I was alone and enjoy the contents. “The books here are really nice, they even dropped some new books. I can't really wait to go to college.” Eloise squealed.
