She reached the second floor and walked down the hallway to the second door on the right, pushing it open without hesitation. The room was a sanctuary of books, with shelves lining every wall, filled to the brim with novels, textbooks, and books of every genre. Elizabeth was at her desk, her back to the door, completely absorbed in her reading. Her thick black curls cascaded down her back, and her chocolate-colored skin glowed in the light streaming in through the window. Earbuds were firmly in place, drowning out the world around her. Eli was busy with a lot of work in his study right now, giving her the opportunity to sneak off to her room and pull out the Black book. Her hands trembled as she grabbed it out of where she had carefully tucked it away. With a deep breath, she opened it and started skimming through it. A could of pages in and she knew this was a book she would not be returning. There was just so much information, she would need the whole book with her and a few jottings will never be able to do justice. There were the 199 names of the past brides, the village they were from, the night they were chosen, and the night of their suspected disappearance.

*"July 15th - Found pills in my tea. Making me sick. Dizzy. Can't think straight." *"July 20th - He brought me up to the balcony tonight. Wanted to show me the view. I'm not allowed near edges anymore. He says I might fall."* The final entry was barely legible. *"July 25th - Going to try the balcony again. If something happens to me, look for the others. Check the garden shed. He keeps trophies."* Elizabeth died July 26th. "Fell" from the same balcony where Jason died. Violet's coughing turned to retching. I had to get her medicine, but my legs wouldn't move. The pieces were all there, forming a picture so horrible I couldn't process it.

After dinner, Elizabeth sat in her dorm room, thinking about the past events. So much had happened during the past few hours. She looked at the book with determination. She decided she was going to face her fears. She opened the book. “Bonnie! Speak to me,” She heard the hissing sound. It was Zai. “What do you want?” Elizabeth asked. “I want to hunt down the witch hunter’s great great-grandchildren. Help me get my revenge.” She spoke.

I explained. "So if your theory is correct, Milly's name will be somewhere in this book in red?' Max asked his voice still a little croaky from sleep. "Yep, so now it should be easily distinguishable," I said flicking through pages looking for a sign of red. It wasn't until another hour later that I spotted the next red name. A girl named Elizabeth from the 1700s. I put my slight disappointment that it wasn't Milly aside and continued to search for another thirty minutes.

Three days have passed since the death and burial of Andrew. Instead of grieving for his death, people were saying bad things about him. They said that he deserves what he got. She paused for a moment, then suddenly remembered something. “There’s one in our marriage book, Madam. There’s a photo of me and my husband there.” “May I see your marriage book?” Nathan asked. “Yes, please wait a moment. I’ll get it.” Elizabeth quickly left the study and pressed the elevator button to the second floor. Aunt Eli had taught her how to use the elevator, so she was already familiar with it. Not long after, Elizabeth returned with a green marriage book clutched tightly in her hands, as if it were the only proof that her marriage had ever existed.
