She stared at him. “Does it bother you?” Kael paused. A little too long. “Yes.” The honesty caught her off guard. “Why?” “Because Crimson warriors don’t act without reason.” “Neither do Ashen warriors.” “No.” His eyes met hers. “Which is why I know he had one.” The fire cracked between them. Elara looked away. “What was his name?” Kael’s expression darkened. “Riven Nightbane.” The name meant nothing to her. But the way Kael said it told her everything.

They were called the Children of Elfs." Beatrice read aloud and shrugged. "What do you think about it? The children of Elves. Not bad." Melinda mumbled with a giggle. "Can you read something else? Since only some names were shortened, maybe they were too important to be openly put on a suspect-list? Katherine had a very bad feeling about this. What in all gods name was Nathaniel investigating? From this list alone, nearly half of the upper rank aristocrats might be involved.
