I didn't even know what it was called! I looked at my watch and saw that I had fifteen minutes left to my break. I scarfed down the rest of my salad I picked up from the Neighborhood Bakery on my way into work and called the doctor's office. A girl named Shailynn answered and told me the doctor would call me back shortly; she was with a patient.

*6:45 AM* Elma woke up before the sun. Day 5. Her body trusted rest now, but her mind still did check-ins at odd hours. Today the check-in was: _Who are you if no one is watching?_ She lay still and let the question sit. No answer came. That was okay. Her phone buzzed. Destiny at 6:30 AM: _Bench. 10 AM. I wake up with a start, perspiring and panting. I look at the cell phone. It's still three in the morning. I fell asleep reading the book, I almost lost track of which page I had stopped. I scroll the phone screen, several notifications, including Stephen, Max, my dad and Ethan. I run a hand over my face and feel around the headboard for my glasses so I can read the messages.
