San Francisco was waking up. This was where it had all begun. And maybe, this was where it would all end. She let out a shaky breath and pulled the sheets up around her. For the first time that night, her mind began to quiet down. Eden didn’t need sleep to feel ready. She needed resolve. And she had plenty of that. *** Sky woke up two hours later to the bright sun slicing through the blinds. She sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Her mind instantly replayed Jace’s voice when he mentioned Eden last night.

_Author’s POV_ The next morning came faster than usual. Eden’s assistant had informed Dani about Eden’s arrival the previous day, she’d foolishly looked forward to seeing him at night, but a last minute call from Eden’s assistant shattered the hope she had. Eden had one last dinner meeting to attend with a client. When Danica opened her eyes to the sunlight streaming in through the opened window, she sighed, feeling the usual cramps from every other day. She glanced at the bedside where Evelyn already had her breakfast laid out neatly.

I pushed open the heavy door alone and found nothing but darkness. "Would a hug or a kiss be enough to keep you here?" someone asked in a choked voice. … I woke up shaking and covered in sweat. There was no time for sorrow. The project deadline was near, and the team had been grinding nonstop. The only silver lining was that exhaustion sent us straight to sleep as soon as we lay down. After several exhausting days, the proposal was perfected, leaving nothing for even a god to fault. When I stood outside the CEO's office on the 36th floor once more, the gorgeous secretary informed me that Yoel was absent.

How was I supposed to handle all this today. About an hour later both me and Ethan were ready. It was 9am on a Sunday morning, so long story short, we had breakfast, went to church, Ethan went home to get ready with his parents and I still had a little extra time before it was time to meet up with Robert. We got back home and everyone went about their business as Mom got started with dinner for the Floyds. I went up to my room picked up my phone and opened our group chat, i was kinda bored so I picked up my phone and started a conversation:

ADELINE It was when the first rays of sunlight from the windows hit my face that I realized it was daybreak. I was hunched up against the wall in a corner of the room, my arms wrapped around myself. Every inch of my body hurt, and without even needing a mirror, I knew for certain I looked like shit. I had spent the whole night crying my eyes out and silently begging Dominic to come back. But of course he never did. And I didn’t blame him.

*** At the crack of dawn, the sound of the army reveille sliced through the air, rousing Callie and Wendy from their slumber. Callie’s eyes snapped open, embracing the familiar rhythm of the academy’s routine. She rose from her bed, ready to greet the day’s challenges head-on. With swift movements, Callie washed up. Turning to Wendy, she suggested, ‘Morning jog before breakfast?’ Wendy emitted a groan that echoed through the room. ‘Ugh, seriously? It’s like the universe wants us to suffer.’ Callie shot her a wry grin. ‘Come on, Wendy. It’s good for you.’
