Eleanor collapsed, her body convulsing violently. Shadows poured from her mouth and eyes, inky tendrils that slithered across the bloodied earth toward Lyra. They burrowed into her skin like parasitic worms, vanishing beneath her fingernails, her tear ducts, the hollow of her throat.
Eric staggered to my side, his gray eyes reflecting my new form, a massive white dire wolf wreathed in silver flame, the amulet now fully integrated into a glowing chest marking. "Alpha Omega," he breathed. "The legends... they undersold you."
