Emilie’s POV: The morning sun filtered through the penthouse windows, casting long shadows across the marble floor. I stood in front of the mirror, smoothing the fabric of the deep emerald gown Milo had chosen for me. It hugged my frame tightly, the neckline plunging just enough to make me feel exposed, yet the elegance of it was undeniable. Tonight, I wasn’t just Emilie, the girl who’d traded her freedom for her father’s life. Tonight, I was Milo Petrov’s wife, and he intended for the world to know it.

But when she got up to the table Ellis slid her a piece of paper. “I’m sorry we didn’t tell you that you’d be called today. We didn’t want to give you something else to worry about.” He had written the note on it. She read it then smiled and nodded at him. They were trying to protect her, which she appreciated. “Please state your name and title”. Reymond said to her kindly. “Emily Caroline Elkwood Blackforest, Luna of the Blackforest pack.” She said. “Thank you. Okay Emily. We’re going to ask you to take us through the night in question. Can you do that?”

Emily turned around to watch the only home that she had ever known grow smaller and smaller as Serious Face continued to drive. Sniffling, Emily quickly wiped away a few tears that rolled down her cheeks. She turned back to the front and leaned her head against the cool glass of the window. The sun was starting to rise so she could see familiar fields, trees, and houses as they passed them. Slowly the familiar landscape and the smooth motion of the SUV lulled Emily to sleep. The stress and exhaustion from the last 24 hours caught up to her and Emily slept soundly for the next several hours. Chapter 36: A New Dawn As the first light of dawn began to break over the horizon, Emilia, Ryder, Luna, and Asher emerged from the depths of the forest, their spirits buoyed by the sense of unity and purpose that had carried them through their recent trials. The air was filled with a palpable sense of anticipation, as if the world itself was holding its breath in anticipation of what was to come.

She needed to be fine too, and she was going to be fine today. “I’m ready!” Emily announced and came down the stairs, clad in a short red dress with her hair packed up in a ponytail. “Oh my God!” Brian yelped, with his eyes popped out in surprise. “You look stunning!” He confessed, with his mouth slightly parted in surprise. He stretched out his hands which Emily took and with majestic strides, they strolled out of the house. The drive was quiet and lively, with music playing in the car and the sunset coming up, Emily couldn’t help but get lost in the surrounding beauty.

She sank to her bed, relief washing over her as she awaited the happiest day of her life which was tomorrow, the day she would officially become his. The night rolled fast and morning broke in. Emily grabbed her phone the moment she woke up, putting a call through to Daryl but he didn't pick up. She called countless times and received no response. Concluding that he was probably busy, she decided to send a text instead. "Let's meet at the Registry by 12 noon."

Emily turned desperately, searching through the thick smoke. “Emily!” His voice sounded closer now. For a moment she thought she saw someone running toward her through the haze - tall, broad shouldered, moving quickly through the firelight. But before she could see his face… The dream shattered. Emily woke suddenly, sitting upright in the darkness. Her heart pounded against her ribs. She pressed her hand against her forehead as she tried to steady her breathing. “What…?” The room was silent. But Damien’s voice still echoed in her ears. She stared into the darkness.

I am supposed to focus on why we’re here. But my mind was stuck in a horrific loop. The laundry cart. The grey-uniformed guards. The injury along Emily’s jawline. She had spent five years acting as Dawnridge's eyes in the frozen North—a fierce, defiant storm of a girl who refused to play the quiet princess to her brother’s crown. She had survived the dangerous underbelly of the Sovereign courts without a scratch, only to be zip-tied like a common thief in a hotel basement because she tried to save me.

A question struck my mind. ‘How did you find me?’ I asked him. He smirked. ‘I followed you,’ he said. I looked at him in surprise. ‘Follow me?’ I muttered those words as he increased the volume of the music. ................................... JULET’S POV Following a total stranger home, not knowing where he was taking me, we entered a grand estate named "The Damien's Estate." It was like another world, vast and magnificent. My mouth dropped open in awe; I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen something so impressive. As we drove, we passed under an arch of floricultures that provided shade.

It wasn't long before Emily's eyes finally closed. Emily opened her eye softly, her gaze automatically falling on the khaki sofa Dorothy used to sit on, but it looked empty. She lazily got out of bed, then opened her cell phone, it was still sux in the morning, no wonder Dorothy wasn't in her room. Emily was used to waking up early, so she find it strange to wake up so late. With her eyes fully awake she dragged her feet towards the bathroom. After brushing her teeth, washing her face and changing her clothes, decided to leave her room , maybe she will get acquainted with the other house hold staff.
