“She has a name,” I grind out. “Faye. And yes, she’s mine, and whoever did this to her is going to pay in blood.”
“Will you keep it down?” Emelda’s voice echoes down to us. She grips the banister, her body shielded by a muted red robe and silken nightgown beneath, but her hair is uncommonly loose and flowing over her shoulders and back in the thickest black waves.
I often forget that Emelda is beautiful. I know how that sounds, but she’s one of my oldest friends, and I’ve never seen her as anything but th
