“Do not show any emotions.” “Give me a second.” Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Waylon walking up. Quietly, I signaled for him to stop and give me space. He must have caught on because they stopped walked and acted as if they were talking. Closing my eyes, I pushed any and all negative emotions down. I am the daughter and rightful heir to the throne. No one will defeat me.

TALON’S P.O.V I could not remember the last time I got surprised. When I said ‘surprise’ I meant the kind that caught you off guard, that stopped your heartbeat for a millisecond and then got it racing again. I had trained myself to not entertain any form of emotions including surprise. I spent years of my life learning to not show my emotions – fear, sadness, surprise, shock. Even when I once received news about a cousin of mine dying, I had not shown my shock or sadness or fear. When my parents organized surprise family trips to expensive countries and places, I still never showed any emotion – surprise, happiness or excitement – never.

This unusual display of affection seems to be all the incentive my emotions need because right there, I watch myself unravel slowly. The emotions hit my chest first, and then it works it way up till till I'm choking on my own tears. “Hey….hey…baby girl…..”. And that's it. Like a dam, I let loose, curling into myself as I rest my head on his shoulder and let the emotions loose. He doesn't say anything, simply wrapping his arms tightly around me as I cry on his shoulder. I want to stop but I can't, the tears keep coming, coughing out of me in violent bursts. He just holds me, his hand periodically tapping my back in assurance.

Before I knock on the door, I make sure to wipe away my tears, not wanting my emotions to be immediately visible. I gather my strength and raise my hand to knock on the door, my heart pounding with anticipation. Jacob swings the door open, and our eyes lock in an instant connection. At that moment, I witness a subtle shift in his facial expression, as empathy and understanding wash over him. It's as if he can see the pain in my eyes and knows exactly what I'm going through.

I said, pointing to the text. ‘When one or more of the bearer’s three emotions reach their peak, the glow may open memories, prophecies, or any other ability inherited from their ancestors. These three emotions are love, sadness, or anger.’ Kylan shifted closer, our shoulders touching. My pulse quickened at the closeness, and I had to remind myself to focus. To make matters worse, after reading what I had pointed out, I felt like slamming my head onto the table.

Should we do this the hard way or the simple way” “Simple way” I muster enough courage as I walk over to the couch taking my seat. My eyes showed foreign emotions of sadness and nervousness.

I am doing things wrong, everything around me is wrong, and I don't know how to take control of things that I do or that seem to happen to me. Standing and looking at the scene in front of me is heart-wrenching but at the same time I am failing to emote the emotions, I am feeling inside. Other than shock I show nothing on my face, and it's not like I am hiding my emotions no it's happening on its own. Xander is looking at me, there is this sorry look on his face that I both hate and feel pity for.
