She growled softly in my mind, reminding me to stay alert. Elena's mask was slowly taken off, and soft strands of hair covered most of her face. I was so nervous that I almost forgot to breathe. Klein then lifted her chin. "It's been a while, kiddo." As I saw her face, I was stunned on the spot. Crystal let out a low growl in my mind. Clearly, she was thrilled to finally see this devil's face.

~ELENA’S POV~ The buzz from Max's phone pulled us out of our moment of playful banter. Max quickly glanced at the phone screen, and his expression changed from playful to intent. I mused, could there be something wrong? I patiently waited for him as he swiped the phone screen. He picked the call. He listened without uttering a single word. In a few seconds, he ended the call, then turned his gaze towards me. Max sighed, “It's time… Elena, I have a surprise for you.” He announced.
