She stared at it, half-petrified by the sheer intensity of the rising tide inside her that yearned to answer, to touch back, to hold.
“Not like that,” he said. “Like this.”
And as he stared into her eyes, he slowly released her wrist, but only so he could slide his fingers down to hers with a keen slowness like a blade being unsheathed in a graceful, languid motion. And one by one, he laced their fingers together, sliding along her knuckles with tantalizing yet assertive strength, tempting and demanding all at once. With his other hand, he folded her fingers down the same way against his, leaving her to stare at their joined hands.
