Eragon Eldest Novels & Stories

The one in the center did not look at me at all. He was the tallest, the broadest, his face carved into hard lines that betrayed nothing. His eyes were the same grey as his father’s, but colder—winter without the promise of spring. He descended the last step and stopped beside Marcus, his attention fixed on some point beyond my shoulder as if I did not exist. Cassian. The eldest. The leader. A fortress made of flesh and bone. Theron broke formation first. He circled us like a wolf circling wounded prey, his head tilted, his grin widening. He moved with the easy confidence of someone who had never known fear, and the scent of him hit me—pine and smoke and something wild that made my wolf twit

Their eyes were all golden, their skins all mapped with the bronze-lines of the Eternal-Ash-Born. The Assembly of the Architects Kaelen stepped onto the soil, and the crowd parted in a wave of silent respect. At the base of the Rogue-Spire, a small group of elders waited. Among them was Leo Vane the Third, Kaelen’s younger brother, who had stayed behind to manage the Earth’s restoration.

Of course he had. "He's struggling," she said, keeping her voice low. "He's learning." "He's three, Kael." "He cracked stone without trying." Kael's silver eyes moved briefly to hers. "Imagine what happens when he's five and loses his temper at school. Or ten. Or fifteen." He paused. "Theron is the only living elder who has trained children born like them. I am not going to override that." Elara turned back to the room. Lena had managed something her brother hadn't yet. The pressure around her had smoothed out, pulled inward. She stood very still with her eyes closed and her small chest rising and falling slowly. Theron made a low sound of approval.

Beatrice explained briefly. "And what's Liam's connection to all this?" "Are you that clueless that he doesn't know Liam is Eros's biological son?" "Oh damn! I forgot about that." Jamie rubbed his face, then turned back to Beatrice with a serious expression. "If Liam is Eros's son, doesn't that mean he has the right to be the main leader? Why did Rafael inherit ElWagner after Ares retired? As you said, Eros was the first son, and Ares was the second son, right? Then they had one more younger brother who disappeared."

“His age is a single year older than your frame. He represents Darius Thornridge’s son, who comes right before your father Magnus in the birth order of the elders. He possesses two half-brothers—” “Yeah, okay,” Kael says, letting out a strange, low chuckle from his chest. “Go on with the text.” “Laurent Devereux and Mateo Virex. Both pups are younger than his position. And he has a stepmother wolf.” “Sable Renwick is his second stepmother in the den.” “Right, because his father divorced Laurent and Mateo’s mother—” “—Evelina Draegor.”

"Lady Gaiana was sent away as soon as that boy was weaned." As a rule, we don't speak aloud what we both know: Erasmus and Eukleides are mine. I don't mention that her older boys carry my eyes, my jaw. It's safest for them, even now as adults, that Eugenius believes they are his. "Perhaps. But now Androkles will have you. And I'll do what I can, too," she promised, kissing back down my neck, her tongue flicking out to taste the salt on my skin.

“i did it multiple times as a kid in Eris. For my mother, King Yangtze, and Lord Argenton. They claimed I had a natural gift for it.” His words throw me. This is the first time I'd hear Sven talking about his time in Eris as a kid. It surprises me to even hear him talk about Lord Argenton and his mum. Lord Argenton was on the council during King Yangtze's reign. The second most powerful man in Eris and also the richest man in the Kingdom. While his mum, there's little I know about her. King Yangtze had a lot of children. But Sven lived twelve years with her. He had to have loved her. So why wasn’t she around now?

“The Oracle has already foreseen that our families will bring forth mighty heirs for the next generation. My youngest, Araheen, in particular, has been forematched to Zephyr.” She remembered that name. He was Lord Erminius’s youngest brother. She’d heard from Siegfrid that he’d been sent to Crescent Tower after leading an unsanctioned mission that got his entire squad killed. People had said he was broken… that he had to be removed from society. But someone had also said he was rumored to be born a Fractured Sylph—just like Araheen. “We do not speak that name anymore,” Lord Erminius said, his face tight as he sipped tea from his crystal cup.

He smiled at me. "Thanks dad." I pulled my hair behind my ear looking at the ground, suddenly bashful. "And you're Eragon's son, correct?" Dad pointed to Eryn, letting go of Charles' hand and stretching it out towards Eryn. "Yes sir." Eryn responded firmly, taking my father's hand. "Eryn Artemis Sweetflower at your service your majesty." He let go of my father's hand giving him an elf guard salute. His right first over his heart, his left fist behind his lower back, standing tall.

she whispered when we pulled apart. “I always accepted you,” I said, keeping my hand on her waist, “I was the fool who let you slip away.” Tears rolled down her cheeks and she shook her head. “I never held a grudge.” I kissed her again gently, and the pack cheered even harder. When the sound faded enough, I turned to Eren and lifted his hand. “Today,” I said, “I also name Eren as the next heir to my throne.” Eren looked startled but proud, and the pack cheered for him too. I saw Elara wipe another tear away and she leaned her head lightly on my arm.
