I can't tell if it's a joke but Keren doesn't flinch, just turns to me and shrugs in mock surrender. “I told you”. He says. The table chuckles again and I realize then that it must be a joke. What…a unique sense of humor.

Eric cracked up, lifting the tension in the room with his laughter. "I'm told it takes less than that," he smirked. It took way less than that. I thought to myself. I wiped my face with my hand, my mind racing.

“Pretty cool, bro.” James smiled a small smile, not giving himself over to the same sentimentality. “Thanks, though,” said Tres. His eyebrows crinkled. “For what?” “For not taking off my head.” They bellowed with laughter, breaking the gravity of the conversation. It felt good to laugh, just as friends, letting the cares of the world slip away, even if only for a short time. “Next time,” James said in between painful laughs, “announce yourself a little sooner.”

One of them pouted. “You really need to loosen up boy, else I won't be surprised when you come crying cause your mate dumped you” The taller one said dryly, they giggled. “Hello to you too Jessy, can't resist picking on me huh?” A smile etched on Eros face as he replied her. “Not like there's much to do here anyway,” Jessy grinned widely, ruffling his hair. “I'm not a kid anymore” he grumbled, arranging his hair.

His voice held that same mischievous edge, clearly himself. Skyler rubbed his temples again, shaking his head. “This is so wrong. How did my life come to this?” Lucas let out a short laugh between breaths. “You love it! Admit it, this’ll be a funny story one day.” “Yeah, *real* funny,” Skyler muttered sarcastically, though he couldn’t help the small smirk forming on his face. “I’m never letting you live this down.” Lucas’s breathing quickened, his grin unwavering. “Fine by me—long as you keep this little ‘hangover cure’ between us.”
