I was right there with them, my own mouth agape.
“It was her,” said Enzo, beaming at me with tears in his eyes. “She did it.” Then he grabbed me and pulled me into his arms. “You did it, Scar,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to my temple.
“I did it,” I repeated numbly.
But with all those that remained lying on the ground, it did not feel like a victory. Not completely. My magic had healed the wounded; why had it not breathed new life into those slain by the enemy?
