Lawrence entered without ceremony, holding a printed report.
His eyes moved from Damien to May, immediately reading the atmosphere.
“Well,” he said, “judging by your faces, something interesting happened while decent people were sleeping.”
Damien took the report from him.
“We got to Meridian.”
Lawrence’s brows rose.
“You did?”
May folded her arms lightly.
“Elena canceled her breakfast with Caldwell.”
For the first time in a while, Lawrence looked genuinely impressed.
Then he laughed once, short and sharp.
“That,” he said, “is how you apply pressure.”
