The marble beneath her feet was warm, pulsing faintly with power. The light wrapped around her wrists, crawling up her arms, then over her chest. Her breath quickened.

Her usual elegance was dulled by exhaustion, but she still carried herself with quiet strength. "Miss Sonia." I said gently, approaching her. She turned, her eyes softening when she saw me. "Isabella."

Evelyn’s voice echoed, calm yet filled with unyielding power. “You will not harm him. You will not harm anyone!” Daimon’s laughter rang out, cruel and sharp. “You think your light can stop me? I’ve waited centuries for you, and I will have you!” With a roar, Daimon raised his hand, summoning his own red light.
