“I have no idea what you are referring to.” Nova opened his mouth for the third time, but Skye raised her hand. “See no evil, hear no evil,” she said dramatically. “In fact, I did not see anything. I was not even here. I just walked in and I am already walking back out the same way I came in.” She started moving backwards slowly toward the door, still talking. “I will be outside waiting for Brad. We have a lot to do and I will be spending the night at his place. You two have fun. Be safe. Use protection. Lock the door. Bye!”

Every instinct screams at me to turn back to the safety of the bridge. The canopies of the remaining pods suddenly open, exposing my companions still in hibernation, utterly unaware of the impending danger. The monitors have either malfunctioned, or this is a safety device. I force myself not to panic as my breathing becomes labored from the lack of oxygen. I have almost reached Beth. She stares up at me, and I can see relief in her eyes. There is no time to consider the consequences. I rip out her tubes and remove the restraints. Globular clusters of blood and fluid float upward to the widening fracture and disappear. Beth stretches out a hand, “Skye, help me,” she whispers.

Evelyn said with confidence. “Ethan, Steve will any of you bother to tell me what is happening here? Who is she?” Matthew asked. He was watching the commotion for a long and didn’t get what is going on in his house? Who the girl is she? What is she talking about? Why is she accusing his brothers and what his brothers are doing? “Elder brother Matthew, she is Sky’s sister Evelyn Harrison,” Steve said. Evelyn looks here, and there being confused, then spoke in a rude tone. “Excuse me, who is Sky? My sister’s name is Skylar Harrison.”

In my mind, I could already see Eva’s face filled with disappointment and betrayal, and that was something I couldn’t bear. I took a shaky step back. I needed space. I needed air. I needed a second to think clearly. But before I could move farther, Evan stepped forward. He closed the distance between us quickly, and in an instant, I was caught between his arms. His hands were on either side of me, and his body leaned in—not rough or harsh, but firm enough to keep me from slipping away. “I’m not playing, Skye,” he said quietly, his voice low but steady. “I like you. My wolf wants yours. I chose you.”

"I'll bring it when I'm teaching you how to read," "Okay," Evelyn smiled. The omega felt excited to start learning again. "I'll be going now then, see you tomorrow, " Scarlett said goodbye to the girl who waved at her. * * * Evelyn took a deep breath as she stood on the balcony. The night sky was beautiful. She gripped the blanket around her tightly, trying to keep warm. It was getting colder and colder as time passed. Soon, there will be snowfalls. The omega sighed as she looked back into the quiet bedroom. Keiran wasn't back yet. Evelyn looked at the digital clock on the wall.

she cried, scrambling up the stairs. The woman barked, “Wrong way, over here!” She stumbled into the main hall and stopped, blinking. Skye stood still, cold and distant. “Who… who are you?” she gasped. “Did Paige send you? Please! Take me away! Please!” Skye tilted her head, studying the disheveled woman. A mocking glint flashed in her eyes. “So… is this karma? Paige abandoned you?” She stepped forward, voice low and dangerous. “Seems your daughter’s done with you.” ***

But my hands aren’t clean anymore. Rubbing my eyelid, I glanced at the little notebook Nik gave me. He wanted me to write down a list, things I wanted to experience with him. Things that would “ruin” me. Funny thing is, Anastasia’s already ruined. Nothing can break her again. But Skye? That version of me,the sweet, lost girl she pretends to be? She could still be broken. She could still be… ruined. The pen moved slowly across the page. “Fall in love with me and let me kill you.”

"Then it'll be just like old times." Misty opened the book and smiled as Eva shuffled around to get comfortable on her lap. Misty then read out the title of the book. Vampires and Their Beloveds "Is this a story or an information book?" Eva questioned her mother. "Looks like it's an information book," Misty spoke out as she turned the page. Before Misty could start reading again, Eva could hear the alarm clock ringing once again in her shared room with Alana. Eve quickly rose to her feet and sighed.

The two girls fished out a towel in Eric’s bag, and they wiped their body dry before they put on another set of clean clothes. “No. we did not think of it that way,” Elise said as she combed her hair by her fingers and regarded brother. “It’s because the high priestess told us about missions. So we thought that our mission started in Te-Mehu and so it would naturally end here in Ta Shemau. It has to be that.” She then searched for some cologne. Perhaps her brother brought some. Then she found her Egyptian history book, The Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. She frowned and looked at her brother. “Eric, did you bring this purposely?” She waved the book in her brother’s face. “Oh, I didn’t notice I pi

As everyone started getting their stuff my teammate Amanda yelled "Team dinner at Mackey's at six if you can attend! We should get to know Skylar now that she's part of our family, also I'm just really fuckin hungry!" A few cheers erupted before everyone went back to what they were doing. Everyone except Sky of course who was now chatting with Amanda. She placed her hand on Amanda's shoulder while laughing about something she had said sending a pang of jealousy through me. I quickly shook my head clearing the thoughts before standing. I really need to calm down, she's hot and I'm more interested in her in 24 hours than I've been in anyone but I barely even know her, I'm being ridiculous. She
